What are the symptoms of the thyroid and how to control and importance of controlling?
September 2, 2020editorblogMedical Articles

Thyroid disease is spreading rapidly. In this disease, hormones also go wrong with weight gain. Women are most vulnerable to thyroid disease. This disease is caused by the enlargement of the thyroid gland. This gland is in the shape of a butterfly, which controls many essential activities of the body.

The thyroid gland produces the T3 and T4 thyroxine hormones which have a direct effect on the breath, heart rate, digestive system and body temperature. In addition, they also control bones, muscles and cholesterol. When these hormones become unbalanced in the body, the weight starts decreasing or increasing, this is called thyroid problem. It is a silent killer disease because its symptoms are not immediately apparent.

What is hypothyroidism?

Thyroid disease is also known as hypothyroidism. This is a common disorder, which needs to be treated at the right time, not to panic. Hypothyroidism is seen divided into two parts. These are called primary and central hypothyroidism.

Difference between primary and secondary hypothyroidism

Primary hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland does not produce the required amount of thyroid hormone. Such a condition is mostly caused by iodine deficiency.

Secondary (central) hypothyroidism is a condition when the thyroid gland is functioning properly but the pituitary gland and a part of the brain, the hypothalamus, may not function properly.

Symptoms of hypothyroidism

Symptoms of this disease can be very minor and vary from patient to patient. Some common symptoms seen in most patients of hypothyroidism are:

  • Skin rash
  • Voice change
  • Hair fall
  • Stay occupied
  • Feeling tired
  • Muscle cramps
  • Can not tolerate even the slightest cold
  • Slow problem
  • Periods related problems
  • Increase fat
  • White discharge from breasts
  • Skin color change

When should a thyroid be examined?

According to doctors, the thyroid should start being examined from the age of 35 and it should be checked regularly after every 5 years. So that you can control this serious disease. This is for both women and men. However, thyroid disease is seen to be associated with women.

Why is thyroid treatment necessary?

If hypothyroidism is not treated in time, this disease sometimes leads the person to a state of coma or can even lead to death. On the other hand, if children who are suffering from thyroid are not treated at the right time, then they can cause fatal mental disorders. According to the information, most of the people suffering from this disease die due to heart failure.

Methods of investigation

  1. In primary hypothyroidism, serum TSH level and T4 level are checked. In the case of disease, their level is either lower or higher than normal.
  2. Levels of T4 and antithyroid antibodies are tested in secondary hypothyroidism.

Effect of the right treatment

If hypothyroidism is treated properly, the symptoms of this disease stop appearing within a few weeks or months in the victim. By determining your lifestyle on regular checkups and on the advice of a doctor, you can stay away from thyroid problems.
